2024 was our best year yet! We had a new record of 224 registered runners and were able to donate $12,756.75 to Sacred Selections!

Go ahead and mark your calendars for January 11, 2025, for the 6th Annual Forging Families runs! We've already started working to make next year even better!
​
The race begins and ends at the Shelby County Arts Council, which offers plenty of parking, and ample green space for before and after the race. The City of Columbiana gives us access to the Grande Hall which means you'll have a warm place before and after the race.

Our Mission
​
We are a group of volunteers who believe in the power of family, who believe that all children deserve a safe, loving home in which to grow up. Sacred Selections is a not-for-profit organization that assists families in their quest to adopt a child. It's a pretty amazing organization. They operate with a volunteer board and minimal administrative costs.
​
In the last four years, we've been honored to assist four families in their pursuit to give a child a forever home. You've been a part of something really special!
​
This year we have the opportunity to help Justin and Karen Padgett of Moody, Alabama. They are matched with a baby in late November.
​
All proceeds from this race will be donated to Sacred Selections to reduce the financial burden on a family willing to give a child a home. Funds will be sent directly to Sacred Selections to assist families in process of adoption. In the last two years, we have donated over $40,000 to this cause and our event has grown each year.
We are excited to add a 5K, a10K, and a 1 Mile Fun Run. There's something for everyone!

Race day registration and packet pick up will begin at 7:00 AM on Saturday, January 6th at the Shelby County Arts Council.
​
The course (USATF #AL19060JE for the 5K and USATF #AL21027JE for the 10K) is fast and flat and promises a great opportunity at your next PR! We will begin and end at the brand new Shelby County Arts Council facility. The 10K course will basically be a double loop. USATF certification is in process. Although the course is an open course, the City of Columbiana is partnering with us and providing police to control the flow of traffic to ensure runners are safe.
​
We will have 1st through 3rd place medals for the following Male/Female categories: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
​
When the race is done, stick around and check out this beautiful facility and enjoy Columbiana’s quaint Main Street, visit our local businesses for unique shopping and enjoy the warmth of small town USA!
